New! Game Day Photos

This season you will be able to purchase photos of the games that have been played each Friday & Saturday. These will be photos of teams and individuals in action and preview shots will be posted up at www.flickr.com/photos/ecbsoftball for you to check out. These will be high quality digital shots that will be emailed or provided on disk for you to print out & use as you wish. All proceeds from the sale of the photos will go to the Club. Further details will be available here closer to season start.

Essential Skills Unit (5 Sept)

A 6 hour course for advanced beginner & intermediate coaches providing expansion on the teaching of the basic fundamentals of softball; coaching principles; teaching methods and how to run team trainings. Click here for further information.

Coach T-Ball Unit (3 Oct)

The Coach T-Ball Unit is the first step on the Softball New Zealand Coach Pathway. The hour practical unit is ideal for someone with little or no experience of coaching who wants to learn how to teach T-Ball to children. Click here for further information.

ISF XIII Men’s World Championship 2013

Be a part of making the Worlds 2013 a success World Softball 2013. We want you to be part of making this event a success The Men’s World Fastpitch Softball Championships will be held at Rosedale Park, Albany in February/March 2013.

Plans are underway to develop permanent grandstand seating and associated facilities around Diamond 1 at a cost of $2.5m. NSCC has committed $200k to the project – thank you North Shore City Council.

We are looking for volunteers to undertake a range of tasks – hosting teams, food and beverage stalls, manning the gate, calling the games, manning the office, maintaining the diamonds. If you would like to be involved register as a volunteer on the website now – we welcome volunteers from all around New Zealand to be part of this exciting event.

This is a chance for you to get involved in an international event and have a lot of fun at the same time. If you are interested in being involved please contact Paul Goodall on 443 2467.

ECB Softball

East Coast Bays Softball United Club has been in operation for 30 years and is one of the North Shore’s largest softball clubs.

The goal of the Club is to develop the skills of club members to assist them to play to their best potential and where the player desires, ensure we assist them towards representative selection. 

East Coast Bays United Softball Club is run entirely by volunteers.  We are extremely grateful for the assistance of all of our volunteers, particularly our Coaches, many of whom have been coaching East Coast Bays Softball teams for a number of years and continue to give assistance and guide new Coaches into their roles.

For the 2009/2010 season, ECB Softball fielded 3 senior teams and 12 junior teams. We passionately believe softball is a fantastic summer sport, which the entire family can play and enjoy.  We welcome players of all ages and ability.

All games are played at Rosedale Park in Albany. The season starts in October and ends in March with a break over the Christmas holiday period. Registrations are taken in August each year and information on the registration process is available on this website, as are regular newsletters and notices.

We welcome players of all ages and abilities from 4 years upwards to Senior Men and Senior Women and social players/teams.

On Wednesday 1 September 5.30-7.30pm you can register in person at Rosedale Park.  Come meet the Committee, coaches and other players.

Club Day 2010

This year we are planning to hold a Club Day on Sunday 19th September, from 12:30pm at Rosedale Park. We will be organising some skills sessions for teeballers and some games for our Junior and Senior softball teams. There will be a meeting for coaches and managers where gear bags will be distributed.  Uniforms will be issued to all players who are fully paid up.

With all of the local Government changes it is with much appreciation that we have received financial support from the Community Boards of East Coast, Albany and Glenfield.  With this funding we are able to replace & upgrade the gear that all teams use each week.

Team Grades

Team’s are fielded in the following grades:

8-9 years	U10 T-Ball	Saturdays 8.30-9.30am
10 years	U11 Softball	Saturdays 9.45am-11.15am
11-12 years	U13 Softball	Saturdays 11.30am-1.00pm
13-14 years	U15 Softball	Saturdays 9.45am-11.15am
15-16 years	U17 Softball	Fridays from 6.30pm
17-18 years	U19 Softball	Fridays from 6.30pm
Senior Players	Reserve Grade	Saturdays from 2pm
Senior Players	Social Grade	Saturdays from 2pm

The grade is determined by what age the player is at 31 December e.g. for the 2009/010 season, if the player is 13 years old on 31 December or before, they must play in the U15 softball grade.  If they turn 13 years old on or after 1 January, they are still eligible for the U13 grade.

Uniforms are provided to players at the beginning of the season and returned after the last game of the season.  Players must have their own softball glove and are required to purchase an ECB cap (wearing a cap is compulsory).  Players in the U11 grade and upwards also need to purchase club socks and pants belt, which is part of the club uniform.
