CLUB CAPTAIN UPDATE
Wow — what a busy few weeks it’s been for Tracey and I in the lead-up to the official season start this weekend! We’ve had fantastic pre-season trainings at Freyberg, successful junior and senior specialist clinics for pitching and batting, a great turnout for Muster Day, and registrations continuing to roll in. Best of all, it’s been awesome seeing so many happy kids and parents out there, ready to learn, play, and get their softball on! Over the next couple of weeks, we’ve still got a few things to finalise — including Brad Rona expressions of interest for U13s and U15s (and hands up for coaches, managers, and scorers for these teams), our pre-season and coaching clinics survey, and of course, any late registrations still to come in.
This part of the season can bring a few challenges as we work to balance out our teams. Sometimes this means a few players — and occasionally coaches — might be shuffled around to make sure every team is set up for success. We know this can feel a bit unsettling, especially for our juniors, but we ask parents to please be patient and understanding while we find the right fit for everyone.
Our top priority is ensuring every player gets regular game time so they can participate, learn, and enjoy the game — all within the spirit and rules of softball.
This season we held pre-season trainings at Freyberg Park as we waited for diamonds to become available to us at Rosedale, we are just looking for feedback for these sessions as well as the recent Daisaku Pitching/Batting clinics at Sunnynook. If you attended or didn't please provide feedback so we can improve either communications or the clinics themselves.
Here’s to an awesome season ahead!
